Both, quintessentially infused with the soul of black music.<\/p>\n<h5 style=\"font-weight: 800;\">When and where, how were these mixes recorded?<\/h5>\n<p style=\"font-size: 16px !important;\">The first is a recording of my set in Soweto, Johannesburg in 2006, the other one is a mix I did for the radio.<\/p>\n<h5 style=\"font-weight: 800;\">Can you tell us more about this eclectic journey?<\/h5>\n<p style=\"font-size: 16px !important;\">The first mix was recorded in front of 2,500 persons. I was the only white person there, and it was definitely one of the best moments of my career as a DJ.<\/p>\n<h5 style=\"font-weight: 800;\">From &#8216;Doubts &amp; Convictions&#8217; to &#8216;Black Notes&#8217;, what are you planning next?<\/h5>\n<p style=\"font-size: 16px !important;\">Well, I have a new solo album coming out in 2014, and quite a lot of EPs and collaborations on the way. We\u2019ll be back with the \u2018Ashes to Machines\u2019 project (Me &amp; Jeff Sharel), with a new release on Vekela, Vakula\u2019s label. And if you haven\u2019t heard Magic Malik\u2019s new album on Bee Jazz records, you should check it out. It\u2019s an entirely electronic album, recorded in 4 days.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-size: 16px !important;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/OT7rsqpH5z8\" width=\"640\" height=\"150\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h5 style=\"font-weight: 800;\">Tell us about Ashes To Machines, and all those years spent in the African continent.<\/h5>\n<p style=\"font-size: 16px !important;\">We spent 4 years with Jeff Sharel, worked with more than 300 musicians in 31 different countries. 7 days in each country, a live show, a DJ set and it was already time to move to the next country\u2026It was a unique experience.<\/p>\n<h5 style=\"font-weight: 800;\">You seem to have a lot of stories to share, what is the most memorable gig you played?<\/h5>\n<p style=\"font-size: 16px !important;\">When home, it\u2019s usually some insomniac shit, writing the best lyrics, making the weirdest music, chatting till the morning, playing hoop.<\/p>\n<h5 style=\"font-weight: 800;\">What keeps you going?<\/h5>\n<p style=\"font-size: 16px !important;\">The craziest one was in the Blue Club, Tokyo\u2026The crowd would scream at each new record I would play, and fans were trying to grab me inside the DJ cabin. Another one, would be that gig in Soweto.<\/p>\n<h5 style=\"font-weight: 800;\">Which is your favorite instrument to play and why?<\/h5>\n<p style=\"font-size: 16px !important;\">I don\u2019t play any instruments, except my computer which I use like an instrument, with the help of Ableton\u00a0live.<\/p>\n<h5 style=\"font-weight: 800;\">Where did this fascination for black music come from?<\/h5>\n<p style=\"font-size: 16px !important;\">It\u2019s quite simple actually.
